Dear Nekkers/Neckers Family Members
The last Nekkers/Neckers family reunion was held in Kranenbrug, Netherlands, 20 April 2002. Peter Nekkers of Soest, Jan Nekkers of Amersfoort and several great helpers arranged the meeting at the pancake house owned by Jeanet and Eric Kemperman-Nekkers. About 70 people attended. Traveling from the US were Richard Neckers and Scott and Betsy Warnshuis.
We are currently making plans to hold another reunion on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at my family’s cottage on Lake Michigan, at 2743 Lakeshore Drive, Holland, Michigan.
Peter and Marian from Soest are interested in coming and bringing their family. I hope others from the Netherlands will also consider joining in with many family members from the US and Canada.
There are two early questions. Might you and your family be interested? Then, could you please send to me any updating information – births, deaths, marriages and any other significant events? We will try to have information to pass along to everyone who comes, and to send to those who cannot. We will also plan to have copying and printing equipment so we can share. Our cottage is wireless for computers.
Most motels in Holland (MI) are on US31. Our cottage is on the lake shore about five miles straight West, and is easy to find from any of several east-west streets that cross both US31 and Lakeshore Drive.
A white sand beach is right out in front! So, if the weather is nice, people can plan on swimming, beach-walking, etc. if they like. We also have bicycles and there is an excellent bicycle path system.
We can send information about Holland (the city) and motel accommodations, etc. – there is quite a bit on-line if you go to Holland, Michigan, motels. One site - Trails.com -that is listed gives just about all the motels and their prices.
